You’d be forgiven for thinking this was just going to be a cutesy story about a shell with shoes on. You’d also be forgiven for absolutely bawling your eyes out in the theatre.

Mrs Harris Goes to Paris does exactly what it says on the cover. But, like a trip to a city you’ve been to many times before and loved, while it doesn’t feel fresh, it still delights.

Muru is an important story that needs to be told, but does so in a way that makes it accessible to all viewers. This is no thought provoking silent drama - the message is couched in thrill-a-minute action, gunfights and explosions.

The Angels: Kicking Down The Door channels that anarchic, experimental and brave ethos that formed the band themselves in the early days at the start of its runtime, but eventually is waylaid into standard documentary fare overshadowed by the absence of its frontman.

This wickedly funny, beautifully shot tale of male friendship soured is a fitting addition to McDonagh’s already stacked oeuvre. 

Propulsive viewing that excites, enrages and intrigues, TAR is one of the best movies of all time.

The Woman King is gorgeous, violent, eye-opening and start-to-finish thrill-a-minute entertaining.

Bros is a refreshing take on the classic rom-com genre, telling an authentic gay love story in a way that will have you howling with laughter.

There’s a kernel of a fantastic movie here. But it’s like a small fishing boat, dwarfed by a surrounding ocean of mediocrity.

Whimsical and off-kilter, Amsterdam is a return to form from David O’Russell. 

Don’t Worry Darling is a promising film utterly scuppered of potential by a violently cheap finale.

Ticket to Paradise never achieves anything close to paradise.

The Perfect Dinner isn’t perfect, but it’s a damn good meal.

Bodies Bodies Bodies isn’t A24’s finest or most ambitious film, but it is certainly a hilarious and unexpected piece of filmmaking that is a gem of a time on the big screen.
